J.P. Linde’s love of storytelling began unexpectedly in the sixth grade, when he convinced his male classmates that Elizabeth Montgomery — yes, the star of Bewitched — was his girlfriend. From that moment on, he’s been spinning stories people actually believe.
He’s performed in summer-stock productions of Our Town, Hot L Baltimore, and The Misanthrope — and, to everyone’s relief, managed to avoid appearing nude in Hair. One of the founding members of Portland, Oregon’s comedy scene, J.P. created the sketch and improv group No Prisoners and later took the stage with his one-person show, Casually Insane. He went on to perform stand-up professionally, making his national television debut on Showtime’s Comedy Club Network.
His original musical, Wild Space A Go Go, premiered in Portland at The Embers in 2011. Since then, he’s written five novels, including his latest, The Last Argonaut, coming soon from Reese Unlimited. On the screen side, he co-wrote the horror cult classic Axe to Grind and has collaborated with some of the top producers in film and television.

Coming just in time for Halloween:

The Last Argonaut
by
J,P. Linde

When Nazi occultists awaken the vengeful spirit of Medea in their hunt for the Golden Fleece, the battle for world domination leaps from ancient tombs to wartime America. Standing in their way is The Peregrine—Atlanta’s masked avenger—and his daring wife, Evelyn. Together they’ll face dark magic, mystic assassins, and a prophecy written in blood. From the mean  streets of Atlanta to deep below Mount Olympus, The Last Argonaut hurtles through myth and history toward an explosive showdown between gods, monsters, and men—and the one hero destined to stand against them all.

"Not only is J.P. Linde's FOOL's GOLD a barn burner of a snow western adventure tale, it's also a love story. Linde clearly loves his genre, loves creating within it and loves to keep his readers on the edge of their seat."    Richard Melo (Author of Happy Talk and Jokerman 8).

CA Summer

Some call it summer. Most here in California refer to it as Hell. That time of year when fires dot our landscape with the frequency of Ava Gardner relationships. A particular time of year when our go bags are packed, our gas tanks are full, and we have a pre-arranged Target parking lot where we plan to spend the night. Now, some of our citizens can afford to have their own fire department. Not so in my peaceful little berg. Here, in the town of Windsor, we rely on self-reliance and the importance of backing your car into the driveway. Our vacation season is now January and February. And we all share a common application on our smartphones. The app is called Watch Duty, and with it, we can follow the complete life of a fire, from a homeless person setting it to air tankers dropping retardant all over our neighborhood. I am not sure how we ever truly lived without it. Oh, yeah, I remember, the earth was cooler than, and we had water.

As of today, I am following the adventures of a little devil called the Roblar Fire. It started sometime later in the afternoon and, within one half hour as consumed 20 acres with 0 percent containment. As a side hustle, we watch the wind just in case this little flaming urchin decides to change direction and head to town. This is important as with a good breeze, it could only take a few hours.

Anyway, as you get in gas-guzzling, ozone-depleting vehicles, or jet to your favorite destination, remember us in California. We are thinking of you, and not so much about the cost of fuel. That seven dollars per gallon higher price may have just saved us for another year.

Oh yeah. Fuck the President of Brazil.

Until next time…if there is a next time.
